Online birth registration can be accessed via the Justice Portal at https://justica.gov.pt/Servicos/Registar-nascimento, enabling portuguese parents to apply for their babies' birth registration free of charge from home, without having to go to the Consular Office in their area of jurisdiction.
The online application for birth and nationality registration can only be made for children of a Portuguese mother or father, by authenticating with a Digital Mobile Key or with a Citizen's Card, in the latter case using a card reader and the PIN codes for the address and authentication.
Activation of the Digital Mobile Key for portuguese citizens can be done online, via the AutenticaçãoGOV app, or at this Consulate General.
